Grace Primitive Baptist Church

Grace Primitive Baptist Church

Our History

Grace Primitive Baptist Church began in 1913 as Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church, meeting in the home of Sister M. A. Mansel with a small group of devoted members. From the start, the church held firmly to the doctrines of God’s sovereign grace, particular redemption through Christ, and the final preservation of His people. In the late 1940s, a season of division and difficulty led a group of members to begin meeting at 3616 Hurley Street in Houston. Though early records from 1913–1971 were later lost in a fire, the Lord continued to preserve and bless the congregation. In 1962, to better reflect our belief in “Salvation by Grace,” the church changed its name to Grace Primitive Baptist Church. Today we remain thankful for God’s faithfulness through every generation and for the many pastors, deacons, and members who have served here over the years.
