Grace Primitive Baptist Church, is a band of baptized believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, who have dedicated themselves to  the simple and true principles of worshiping the Lord in Spirit and in truth. We earnestly endeavor to be faithful in the apostle’s doctrine, and the fellowship of the saints; contending for the faith once delivered unto them by its eternal author and finisher, Jesus Christ.

Grace Primitive Baptist Church (Formerly Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church), was originally constituted in September, 1913 by Elder J.A. Moore. In the early to mid 1940’s, there was a departure from the apostle’s doctrine, by some in the church, who began teaching that there could not be repentance and/or restoration to church fellowship of those who were guilty of fornication or adultery. Therefore, the church departed from that group in 1946. In 1947 Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church began meeting at the present location; 3616 Hurley Street, Houston Texas 77093. In 1962, by unanimous agreement, the church body voted to change the name of the church from Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church, to Grace Primitive Baptist Church; which name she humbly bears at the present time.

The scriptural identity of the Church of Jesus Christ, which we have held from the beginning, can still be witnessed, by any who come among us. We unashamedly admit to being believers in the high principles of sovereign love and grace (see Articles of Faith); as the particular cause of God’s foreknowledge of His people, their redemption, effectual calling, justification and their eternal preservation and glorification in Heaven through Jesus Christ His Son. We also believe our identity is manifested in the simplicity of true worship, by the singing of psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, by praying and by the preaching of the gospel of Christ; as ordered  to us in word and epistle from Christ and His holy apostles; and witnessed by the many generations of  our great heritage in His Church from the days of the apostles until now.

The simplicity of truthfulness to biblical order commands us to have but two offices in the Church. First, a God called and God qualified ministry; and secondly good men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost; who have been set apart by the church to occupy the office of deacons. This simplicity and truthfulness to the Scripture, also requires that the Church have but two ordinances, which are: The baptism of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, in the name of The Father, Son and Holy Ghost; and the Lord’s communion, including the taking of unleavened bread and wine, in remembrance of the Lord’s body and blood; and the washing of the saints feet in church capacity, in obedience to the words of our Lord.

Lord willing, we hope and pray to continue in faithful worship of our Lord Jesus Christ in Spirit and truth in His Kingdom here; either until we depart to be with Him, or until His triumphant return in glory, to carry His glorified saints home to be eternally with Him in Heaven.

We invite and encourage all who have a desire for the simple peace of a true and spiritual walk with the Lord, to come and observe our order and service.Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of a stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand. Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken. But there the glorious LORD will be unto us a place of broad rivers and streams; wherein shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby.” (Isaiah 33:19 21)

As the apostle Paul spoke when he was in departing from the elders of the church, at Miletus, in Acts 20:32: His desire was to commend them unto the safest of all places and the care of all compassion and grace. So with this desire for all the saints of God, we say with Paul: “And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.”

Grace and peace to all who desire a closer and simpler discipleship to Christ.
